Terra Lux

The name Terra Lux means “earth and light,” which felt exactly right for this painting.

I built the surface slowly through multiple layers of mixed media, using warm bronze, antique gold and touches of olive green. As I worked, the shapes began to resemble weathered land, distant water and the natural markings found within rock and earth.

What I love most is the way the painting responds to its surroundings. The metallic areas catch the changing light, revealing details that can appear quiet and subtle at one moment, then warmer and more luminous at another.

For me, Terra Lux feels like looking into a landscape without it being one particular place. It has depth and strength, but the softer movement and earthy colours give it a peaceful, grounding quality. I wanted it to have presence within a room while still feeling calm—something you can live with, connect with and continue to discover.
